The propeller shaft has a total length of 12 meters, a shaft diameter of nearly 1 meter and a weight of about 68 tons. As an important component of the power transmission of container ships, the manufacture of propeller shafts must not only ensure excellent propulsion performance, but also have good resistance to cavitation corrosion. It must also be perfectly matched with the main engine hull to achieve the ship's oars. Under the conditions of super large and super heavy parts processing and relatively limited machine tools, Wuhan Heavy Industry has stepped up research and development, carefully organized production, and completed the task in accordance with customer requirements. It has been fully recognized and affirmed by customers.
Recently, Wuhan Heavy Industry Casting & Forging Co., Ltd. successfully produced 8800 boxes of container ship propeller shafts for Jiangsu New Era Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and passed the inspection of GL Classification Society. This is the largest marine propeller shaft delivered by Wuhan Heavy Industry to date, laying a solid foundation for the company to expand into the high-end marine field.
