From Josh Boyajian's report: I was on-site at a still-smoldering high-rise fire that broke out on Thursday at 3245 South Prairie Avenue. Initially, the first responding units didn’t observe any visible signs of fire from the nine-story structure. However, when I arrived, Battalion 2 called for a Box and Plan activation due to reports of an active fire on the second floor. Upon arrival, we noticed a small but noticeable fire in the rear section of the second floor. Engine 19 had to extend a lengthy hose line to reach the fire location. Thanks to their swift efforts, the flames were quickly brought under control. Attached are some images taken by myself, providing a glimpse into the scene during and after the firefighting operation. It’s always humbling to witness how quickly professionals can adapt and respond to emergencies like this one. Their commitment ensures our communities remain safe even in challenging situations.
