The Orland Fire Protection District is set to kick off a major remodeling project for their Station 2 this fall 2013. This facility, located at the corner of 151st and 80th Avenue, first opened its doors back in 1980. Initially designed to house volunteer and part-time personnel, Station 2 originally featured just one garage bay and a small combined office, kitchen, and common area. At that time, it wasn’t intended for full-time staffing or round-the-clock operations.
Over the years, as the demand for emergency services grew, Station 2 underwent several upgrades to support overnight stays and continuous operations. Additional bays were constructed, and the kitchen/common area was expanded to better meet the needs of the growing team. However, due to the numerous modifications over the decades, bringing Station 2 up to modern codes and standards would only serve as a temporary fix. Recognizing this, the Orland Fire Protection District's Board of Trustees gave their approval for a comprehensive overhaul of Station 2 during their June 2013 meeting.
The construction work is scheduled to commence this autumn, with an estimated timeline of around eight weeks for completion.
