The proportion of strontium ore is light, ranging from 2.63 to 3.80, of which beryl has a specific gravity of 2.63 to 2.90, which is similar to the proportion of gangue minerals. Therefore, it is not easy to select by re-election method. The main methods of mineral processing are as follows:
First, the hand selection method
That is, manual sorting of coarse granules (particle size > 10 or 6 mm) is carried out by manual sorting based on the difference between the color and shape of beryl and the gangue. Hand selection has always occupied a more important position in the production process of beryl. In 1962, 7.74 tons of beryl were produced abroad, and the beryl (including BeO=11%) was 6.750 tons, accounting for 91% of the beryl production in that year. The principle flow of beryl hand selection is shown in Figure 1.
Second, choose grinding method
This method is mainly based on the high hardness (7.5~8.0) of beryl. When it is combined with softer gangue minerals (such as mica schist, talc, etc.), it can be made brittle by selective grinding method. The gangue is finely ground, while the beryl still retains its coarser particles and is then separated by grading or sieving. The flow is shown in Figure 2.
Third, the magnetic separation method
When this method is only used to separate the magnetic mineral containing some (hematite, magnetite) beryl ore or weakly magnetic minerals (rock sub garnet, biotite, muscovite, tourmaline, chlorite, etc.) use.
Fourth, radioactive beneficiation method
This method uses the beryl after radioactive induction (release neutrons) after gamma ray irradiation for automatic sorting.
V. Flotation method
This method is currently the most important beneficiation method for the selection of fine-grained ore. In recent years, with the large-scale development of the antimony industry, the niobium deposits that are easy to be selected with coarse particles have been gradually reduced due to the development and utilization. The use of fine-grained strontium deposits will become more and more important, so the flotation research of fine-grained strontium ore is strengthened.
