On May 15th, 2013, the “2013 Riyadh School Car Night†seminar was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The guests from China and Saudi Arabia mainly discussed the development of school bus, school bus operation management and cooperation between the two countries in the school bus field. . The seminar was hosted by China Henan Automobile Engineering Society and hosted by Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co., Ltd. Officials, experts and scholars from the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Education, the Riyadh City Government, the Chamber of Commerce, and the China Automotive Engineering Society and the Henan Automobile Engineering Society attended the event. Experts attending the meeting pointed out that there are many similarities between Saudi school bus and Chinese school bus development. The school bus development in both countries is on the rise, and the school bus market demand is expanding year by year, but the school bus regulations and operation management need to be further improved. Wu Xiaoguang, chairman of the Henan Automobile Engineering Society, introduced the history and current status of the school bus in China. He said that since 2010, China has issued and implemented a number of laws and regulations on school bus safety, which provides legal protection for students to go to school and ride safely. As of March 2013, China has nearly 40,000 school buses that meet safety standards, ensuring the safety of primary and secondary school students. Ge Songlin, deputy secretary-general of the China Automotive Engineering Society, said that in recent years, with the rapid development of Chinese passenger cars, the number of passenger cars exported to Saudi Arabia has also increased year by year. From 2007 to the end of 2012, China exported 12,000 passenger cars in Saudi Arabia, including 6,000 school buses. He said that the cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia in the school bus field has great potential to be tapped. Officials and experts from the Saudi Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Communications are interested in the school bus produced by the Chinese school bus manufacturer Yutong Bus. They asked whether Yutong Bus can produce a school bus for Saudi Arabia that is convenient for disabled students to get on and off and adapt to the geographical and high temperature climates of the Saudi desert and mountains. After the seminar, the Saudi participants visited the long-head special school bus that Yutong produced to win the China School Bus Award. Â
