Hey there, This is Steve Redick here. Just wanted to jot down a few quick notes about some incidents I’ve come across recently. I've been scanning through some old records and found a couple of interesting events. January 11, 1966 – There was a 4-11 alarm at 28 E Jackson. It must have been quite the scene! Then just the day before, on January 10, 1966, there was another 4-11 alarm at a grain elevator near 106th and the Calumet River. That area has always been prone to fires with all those grain elevators around. What a couple of days, huh? Things were really heating up back then, no pun intended! Take care, Steve --- [Attached are several images from the Warren Redick collection showing the aftermath of these fires. The first set of pictures is from the 4-11 alarm at 28 E Jackson on January 11, 1966. You can see the extent of the damage, with charred remains of buildings and firefighters still on the scene. The second set shows the grain elevator fire from January 10, 1966, at 106th and the Calumet River. These photos really capture the intensity of those blazes.] --- I hope this gives you a good sense of what those days were like. Let me know if you need anything else or want to dig deeper into these events. Take care!
