I just witnessed an incident involving Engine 16 at the intersection of 39th and Wallace. It happened early this morning, June 15, while Engine 16 was en route to a reported structure fire just two blocks away. Unfortunately, they were involved in a minor collision. Shortly after notifying dispatch about the accident, Engine 16 requested a "pin-in" response due to concerns over one of their members being trapped. Meanwhile, Squad 1, which was initially tied up at the structure fire, was redirected to assist with the accident scene.
From what I could gather, the damage to the fire engine appeared relatively minor, but one of the crew members was transported to Christ Hospital for further evaluation. The images below capture different moments from the incident, including the initial aftermath and the subsequent efforts to extricate the victim from the vehicle.

It’s always tough to see something like this happen, especially when first responders are out there risking their lives to help others. Thankfully, it seems like the situation wasn’t as severe as it could have been, but accidents like these serve as a reminder of the inherent risks faced by emergency personnel every day.
Let me know if you need any additional details or context. I’ll keep an eye out for updates.
