Jilin builds an auto parts enterprise group with an output value of over 10 billion yuan

In the recently unveiled Jilin Province Automobile Industry Jumping Plan, the province has set ambitious goals to significantly expand its auto parts industry and achieve a major leap in overall development. The plan aims to reach an output value of 130 billion yuan by 2012, with an average annual growth rate of 30%. This strategic move highlights Jilin's commitment to becoming a key player in the automotive sector. Over recent years, the auto parts industry in Jilin has experienced rapid growth. By the end of 2008, the industry had already achieved a production value of 55.2 billion yuan, with nearly 3,500 types of supporting products available. Despite the large number of supporting enterprises, many have yet to achieve a reasonable scale of operation. There are only a few large-scale enterprise groups, and no well-known brands have emerged. These challenges continue to hinder the industry's full potential. To address these issues and promote large-scale development, Jilin Province is focusing on building and expanding auto parts enterprise groups. Through mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring, the province aims to cultivate several large-scale auto parts companies. The goal is to create a domestic group with a value exceeding 20 billion yuan, two companies surpassing 10 billion yuan, two more exceeding 5 billion yuan, and ten firms reaching over 1 billion yuan in value. In terms of product systems, Jilin is accelerating the development of supporting systems for interior and exterior trims, chassis, steering and transmission, wheels, engine accessories, and electrical and electronic systems. This will help build specialized, systematic, and modular capabilities. Alongside traditional products, the province is also focusing on advanced technologies such as small-displacement gasoline direct-injection turbocharged engines, dual-clutch automated manual transmissions, key chassis components, and high-value automotive electronics. Additionally, Jilin is emphasizing the integration of information technology with the automotive industry. It is investing in the development of automotive electronic products, particularly in areas like electronic control systems, on-board information systems, and network information systems. These efforts aim to enhance the support level for key components and high-tech products, positioning Jilin as a leader in the evolving automotive landscape.
