Recently, Qingdao 3000 Institute of Marine Geology and Acoustic Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and China Shipbuilding Heavy Industries jointly developed 702-meter 3000-meter deep acoustic system completed the assembly and successfully passed the first underwater test.

The system is the first 3,000-meter light weak positive buoyant acoustic deep-towed system developed in China for the exploration of natural gas hydrate resources in the sea. In addition to the fine sub-surface structure and micro-topography detection in the hydrate-bearing zone, the system can also carry a variety of sensors to obtain the basic data and data on the physical and oceanographic and geochemical aspects of seawater.

Underwater test of the system shows that the overall balance of the deep-towed system is good. The next step will be to shift to the lake test phase to test the deep-towed system as a whole. The successful development of the deep-towed system will effectively enhance the exploration of marine natural gas hydrate resources in China and provide support for the investigation of natural gas hydrates in the sea.
