This message comes from Drew Gresik: --- Hey everyone, Just wanted to share some details about the 2-11 we responded to this morning at 1433 S Kenneth. I got there around 50 minutes after the initial call, and when I arrived, it was already classified as a Still and Box situation. After being on the scene for about 10 minutes, 2-2-1 called for a 2-11 Alarm due to the intense fire spreading rapidly through the building. There were quite a few firefighters and commissioners present, including Commissioner Jose Santiago from 2-1-3. Since it happened during shift change, there were a lot of personnel transitioning into their gear and moving equipment around. Another interesting aspect of this incident was the significant number of spare apparatus on-site. Companies like Towers 5 and 14, Trucks 26 and 36, along with another Engine and Truck (I believe Engine 109 and Truck 29), had backup units available. Tower 5 was operating E252, while Tower 14 was using E248. In fact, Tower 5 moved into a vacant lot in Sector 4 and took over master stream operations for Tower 14. Squad 2's Snorkel was also utilized as a master stream. Meanwhile, Truck 26 was using E279, which was stationed in the lot next to the two towers. Here are some photos I snapped: - Engine 38 with lines off (Drew Gresik photo) - Engine 95 on a hydrant (Drew Gresik photo) - Engine 113 on a hydrant (Drew Gresik photo) - Engine 117 on a hydrant (Drew Gresik photo) - Truck 26 operating a spare Seagrave ladder truck (Drew Gresik photo) - Two spare E-ONE tower ladders working the fire (Drew Gresik photo) - A hand line deployed to the 3rd floor (Drew Gresik photo) - Tower Ladder 54 (Drew Gresik photo) - One of the spare E-ONE tower ladders in action (Drew Gresik photo) It was definitely an intense situation, but our teams handled it well. Let me know if you have any questions or need more details! Best, Drew Gresik P.S. Tower 5 was using E252, and Tower 14 was operating E248. Tower 5 even backed into the vacant lot in Sector 4 to take over master stream duties from Tower 14. Squad 2’s Snorkel was also pressed into service as a master stream. E279 was being used by Truck 26 and was parked next to the two towers. --- Hope this helps give you a better picture of what went down!
