Thankfully, none suffered any broken bones. The firefighters were quickly transported to Trinity Hospital, where they were treated and are now reportedly in stable condition. Deputy District Chief Lynda Turner stated that approximately 200 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. A “Mayday” distress call was issued around 9:00 AM, signaling the urgency of the situation. The fire department has been actively working to contain the blaze, and the cause is currently under investigation. The Chicago Tribune provided further details, noting that the fire occurred in a three-story apartment building in the 9000 block of South Muskegan Avenue. Chief Turner emphasized the complexity of the rescue operation, which required an emergency response team to assist the trapped firefighters.
